Obtaining a Driver CPC?
LCD Driving Academy is an approved Driver CPC training provider - centre number AC01887. We are approved to deliver training for Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) for LGV, PCV and TAXI .
As a new driver, you will need to pass the Driver CPC theory and practical tests in addition to the licence acquisition theory and practical tests if you intend to drive professionally. If you already hold a PCV or LGV licence issued before September 2009, you will have ‘acquired rights’ and will not be required to take the initial qualification, however; both new and existing drivers will be required to complete Periodic Training. 35 hours of training every 5 years must be attended by all professional drivers. Click here for details of the Guide to Periodic Training.
Driver CPC
The Driver CPC is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers throughout their working life.
The Initial Qualification must be achieved by new LGV and PCV drivers along with their vocational licence to enable them to use their licence professionally.
What is involved in the new test?
The initial qualification has been divided into 4 modules designed to give you flexibility to obtain your vocational licence only, or to gain Driver CPC at the same time. Module 1 - Theory Test
Multiple choice questions and Hazard Perception Clips. Module 2 - Case Studies
Computer based test using case studies, based on real life scenarios that you may encounter in your working life. Module 3 - Practical Test
Driving Test including Eco-Safe Driving assessment. Module 4 - Driver CPC Practical Test
Application for a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) practical test appointment
